What is a Ceramic Coating?

A buzzword loosely applied by the consumer detailing industry to hype new waxes and polymers, their “ceramics” do not compare in terms of gloss or durability to professional applications. Brand name waxes and wax hybrid products last only months compared to the ceramic coatings applied by professional detailers that protect your finish for years.

Professional ceramic coatings set a new paradigm for the vehicle owner by repelling dirt and debris from clinging to the paint and eliminating water spots (dried minerals). This translates to fewer, easier washes and eliminates frequent reapplications (of polishes and waxes).

Besides the advanced chemistry used to create the professional ceramic coating’s longevity, another reason for its durability lies in the surface preparation.  In addition to detailed washing and a clay bar treatment to remove. Paint correction ensues to reduce swirl marks, chips and scratches.  Proper preparation helps the coating adhere better to the paint.

Just prior to the application of the coating, the vehicle is moved to a dust-free booth, insulating it from dust and debris.  There, the detailer rubs down an alcohol/water mix, applies a primer polish to increase the paint’s shine. Finally, he/she applies the ceramic coating.

The proper professional application of layers of the ceramic coating takes several hours. Professional coatings including graphene contain properties that are purposely designed to repel water and are extremely durable. The resulting outstanding shine and reflective properties will no doubt enhance your appreciation of your collector car and ultimately, its value.  Presented compliments of CJC Detailing.
