SUMMARY:No Reserve - Jim Taylor Passion for the Drive Auction
DESCRIPTION:Just a short distance from Albany\, New York in the town of Gloversville\, Broad Arrow Auctions will introduce the spectacular collection of Jim Taylor in the Passion for the Drive Collector Car Auction. To be held October 14-15\, 2022\, roughly 120 cars and trucks will become available along with over 500 pieces of memorabilia.   \nThe varied collection of cars and trucks will capture the attention of many\, but a few have piqued our interest such as the triple black 1987 Aston Martin V8 Volante\, one of just 214 built between 1986 and 1989. Another favorite is the 1962 Ford Thunderbird with the Sports Roadster Package. Finished in black with a red interior\, these cars still grab attention like few others can. Who can resist the charm of an original Morris Minor Traveler? This 1964 Traveler is finished in white and wears an older restoration with a unique backstory. There are all too many more to choose from\, including Allards and BMWs\, Bentleys and Horch\, Diamond-T and more\, and we haven’t even addressed the memorabilia yet. Stay tuned.

SUMMARY:ACNA NEQ Driving School: New Jersey Motorsports Park
DESCRIPTION:Mon-Tue\, October 3 & 4. \nDriving School: New Jersey Motorsports Park – Thunderbolt  Driving School\nSee what your car can do at this High Performance Driving School at New Jersey Motorsports Park    Read More & Sign Up \n\n\nNew Jersey Motorsports Park –  Thunderbolt Driving School\nMon & Tue\, October 3 & 4\, 2022\n\n\nSitting on more than 500 acres in Millville\, N.J.\, New Jersey Motorsports Park is the premier motorsports entertainment complex in the Northeast. NJMP is conveniently located near Philadelphia and New York City\, offering diverse and dynamic attractions both on and off-track. The Park includes two world-class road courses: Thunderbolt and Lightning. For this year’s event\, we will be on Thunderbolt for both days. \nThe southern road circuit at New Jersey Motorsports Park is our signature Thunderbolt Raceway featuring 2.25 miles of asphalt\, 12 challenging turns\, a one half mile straightway and approximately 40 acres of full service paddock space. Amenities on this circuit include concession buildings\, event garages\, twenty (20) VIP Suites\, banquet rooms\, and a three (3) story timing tower with media center. Click here for a detailed Thunderbolt track map. \n\nRegistration Fees\nStudents:  $380 for one day //  $595 for two days.\nInstructors: Event fees are waived in appreciation of your instruction. What is a High Performance Driving School?\nThe purpose of a driving school is quite simple: to improve your driving skills. We conduct the school on a racetrack under the close supervision of experienced and trained instructors. You will learn how to handle and control your vehicle at speeds not normally attained on public roads. This will help to prepare you for emergencies in normal driving. It will also allow you to explore your capabilities as a driver and those of your vehicle in a controlled environment. At no time will you be pushed or encouraged to go any faster than is comfortable. All participants will be organized into run groups in accordance with experience\, skill\, and type of vehicle. What you learn on the track depends on your driving skill. Beginners are taught driving style (smoothness\, consistency\, the ability to read the track)\, more experienced participants continue to work on consistency\, while developing new skills such as trail braking and threshold braking. Every time you are on the track\, you will have an experienced instructor with you\, leading or following you around the track. For the most experienced drivers\, you can be “signed off” and drive solo when you have proven to your instructor and the Chief Instructor that you understand the basics of high speed driving\, you can consistently drive the correct line\, and you show proper etiquette on track. Maturity\, good judgment\, skill\, and significant experience will lead to being signed off for solo driving. \nThough you are on a racetrack\, other drivers of similar driving skills\, it is not a race. Passing in corners is not allowed\, and you are not expected to shift at redline\, or go screaming through each corner with the tires squealing. Safety of the event is of the utmost importance. Driver conduct will be diligently monitored throughout the day by the staff\, instructors\, and corner workers.\n  \nTrack Time\nYou will have four on-track sessions each day varying from 20-30 minutes each. At the end of the 2-day event you will have had between 3-4 hours on-track over the two days. That’s a lot of driving time and a lot of personalized high-quality instruction.\n  \nClassroom\nYour day is divided between driving on the track\, classroom sessions\, and free time. Yes\, this is a school\, and there is mandatory classroom time. All participants are required to attend classroom sessions throughout the day to learn vehicle dynamics and driving techniques. \nIn the classroom\, you learn a lot of high speed driving theory. Learn about the difference between an early and late apex. You’ll get a better understanding of car dynamics so you understand what is really happening when you brake or why your car understeers or oversteers in certain circumstances. Each classroom will also include an opportunity for Q&A.\n  \nDo I need to own an Audi?\nWe welcome all makes of cars  — you don’t have to drive an Audi to enjoy our events. This school is an excellent way for you to improve your driving skills and have fun too!   \nAll participants must simply be members of the Audi Club of North America (ACNA).  There is a $49 fee for annual membership. To join or update your membership\, please go to the ACNA website (http://www.audiclubna.org/) and click on “Join ACNA” at the top of the page.\n  \nFirst Time Students\nOur club is a friendly community of individuals who share a passion for driving their cars. \nWe know what it’s like to drive on a race-track for the first time and we customize your experience to make it an enjoyable as possible. We love welcoming first-timers to our events and we have a good number of first-timers at each one – you will not be alone.  Your novice classroom teacher and your personal instructor are ready to make you comfortable and give you the tools and confidence to enjoy driving your car on the race-track. Don’t forget – this is not competition driving. There is no overtaking in corners or racing other cars. This is all about having a safe and enjoyable experience. \n\nThis YouTube video shows even more about events with our club.\n\n \n\nWe have some restrictions on driving convertibles and you will need a helmet.  We have rental helmets available if you need one. \nInterested in attending or have other registration questions?\nContact Eventmaster Greg Martin at greglmartin2424@gmail.com with any questions.

SUMMARY:34th Annual Leesburg Car Show
DESCRIPTION:History:  For over 3 decades\, the annual Leesburg Car Show has been a premier family event in historic downtown Leesburg.  The origins of the show go back to a local car club that sponsored and coordinated the event.  For years\, students from the old C.S. Monroe Technology Center (Monroe Tech) would volunteer and assist with the show.  This positive partnership evolved with profits from the show being donated to the school as their primary fundraiser.  Eventually\, the staff at Monroe Tech assumed full coordination of the event.  When C.S. Monroe Technology Center closed in 2018\, the programs became part of the new Academies of Loudoun.  At the Academies of Loudoun\, we are proud to continue the tradition of the Leesburg Car Show.  All profits from the event directly support students at the Academies of Loudoun primarily in senior scholarships at the end of the year.  Your support of the Leesburg Car Show and the students at the Academies of Loudoun is greatly appreciated.

SUMMARY:Knudsen’s Collection Auction
DESCRIPTION:World-class Bobby Knudsen Jr petroliana and soda pop advertising collection is centerpiece of powerhouse auction series at Morphy’s\, Sept. 30-Oct. 3 \nKnudsen’s entire 32-year collection of rare\, authentic examples in superior condition – 90% in 9.0 condition or better – will be offered with no reserve \nDENVER\, Pa. – On September 30\, Morphy Auctions will begin the thrilling year-long adventure of selling the Bobby Knudsen Jr Collection of World-Class Automotive\, Gas & Oil and Soda Pop Advertising. The massive personal collection will be offered in a series of three no-reserve auctions concluding in the fall of 2023\, with all sales to be conducted live at Morphy Auctions’ gallery in Denver (Lancaster County)\, Pennsylvania. The September 30\, 2022 series opener\, devoted exclusively to Knudsen’s collection\, will be followed by October 1-3 sessions featuring high-quality automobilia\, petroliana and railroadiana from other consignors.  \nAll forms of remote bidding will be available\, including live online through Morphy Live. \nCommenting on the importance of the Knudsen collection\, Morphy Auctions’ Automobilia & Petroliana Department Head John Mihovetz said: “To me\, Bobby is like the godfather of our hobby. As long as I have been involved in petroliana and soda pop signage\, Bobby has been one of the leading lights. It’s challenging to find the right words to convey just how unique and historically significant his collection is.” \nTopping the list of highlights in the September 30 session is a circa-1929 Musgo Gasoline “Michigan’s Mile Maker” double-sided porcelain service station sign. Emblazoned with the image of a Native American chief\, the 48-inch-diameter sign is one of the finest known examples ever to be offered publicly. Very few double-sided signs of its type are complete and in undamaged condition. Knudsen’s treasured Musgo sign\, which is graded 8.75+ out of 10\, comes to auction with a $200\,000-$400\,000 estimate. \nA great favorite with collectors\, the lively canine mascot for Husky petroleum products makes several high-profile appearances in the sale. One of only two known examples of a Husky Motor Oils tin billboard sign measures a massive 96 by 60 inches inclusive of its original wood frame\, and is graded a strong 8.5+. Against a dazzling Northern Lights background of red\, yellow and white\, the artful ad shows the husky pup at its energetic best. Truly one of the finest examples of graphics in all of gasoline and motor oil advertising\, this sign’s eye appeal is off the charts. A winning bid in the $75\,000-$150\,000 range is anticipated. \nTwo other Husky signs\, in particular\, are expected to shine on auction day. An incredible circa-1930s new/old stock Husky Service (Station) double-sided porcelain shield sign that was discovered in its original shipping crate measures 48 by 42 inches and is a strong condition 9.5+ on one side and 9.0+ on the other. The pre-sale estimate is $40\,000-$80\,000. A vibrant and glossy single-sided die-cut tin Husky Motor Oils service station sign in 9.0+ condition is so clean\, it could easily be new/old-stock as well. Sized 27¾ by 23¾ inches\, it carries an estimate of $30\,000-$40\,000. \nMany gas and oil advertising collectors keep a watchful eye out for signs that represent brands from their own home region. Some of the most sought-after types are those that were produced for California companies. There is already strong pre-auction interest in a rare circa-1930s Beacon (Caminol\, Los Angeles) Security Gasoline sign. The outstanding 48-inch-high die-cut porcelain sign replicates a lighthouse with its beacon shining brightly as ocean waves crash against the structure’s base. Executed in bright primary colors with high gloss and enviable 9.0 overall condition\, it has been assigned a $50\,000-$80\,000 estimate.   \nAirplane petroleum signs are especially rare\, so there’s always excitement when a superlative\, early example appears at auction\, like the one entered as Lot 1074. The circa-1930s double-sided porcelain service station sign promotes Sinclair Aircraft Gasoline and has a beautiful central image of an early airplane with its propeller whirring. Immaculate and absolutely stunning with its red\, white and green color scheme\, the round 48-inch-diameter sign is graded an unapologetic 9.5+ out of 10\, easily warranting a $40\,000-$80\,000 estimate. \nA highly sought-after 1930s Grizzly Gasoline (Northwest Refining Co.\, Cut Bank\, Montana) tin gasoline sign with a standing-bear graphic and the company slogan “Dubbs Cracked” is 48 inches in diameter and graded 8.25+ in condition. There are few known examples of this particular type of sign. A first-rate example\, it could reach $25\,000-$50\,000 on auction day.  \nAnother gorgeous sign of a type that collectors clamor for but rarely see at auction is the circa-1930s Houston Gasoline double-sided porcelain service station sign with a graphic of Texas legend General Sam Houston on horseback. A 48-inch-diameter round sign\, its sides are graded 9.25+ and 9.0\, respectively. Described in the catalog as “one of the finest examples [Morphy’s] has ever sold\,” It is offered with a $30\,000-$40\,000 estimate. \nA colorful array of soda pop signs will be auctioned during the four-day series\, including porcelain\, tin and neon rarities that advertise a variety of brands\, from Coca-Cola\, Pepsi-Cola and Dr. Pepper to lesser-known brands like Whistle\, Vess and Orange Kist. One of the best of all known intact examples of a porcelain-and-neon “Dog n Suds” roadside sign is complete with its flashing-bulb arrow topper. With spectacular colors and visual appeal that is second to none\, this massive 104- by 93-inch sign from the Knudsen collection is graded 8.75+ out of 10 and is estimated at $20\,000-$35\,000. \nMorphy’s Sept. 30\, 2022 auction of the Bobby Knudsen Jr Collection of World-Class Automotive\, Gas & Oil and Soda Pop Advertising; followed by the Oct. 1-3\, 2022 Automobilia\, Petroliana & Railroadiana Auction will be held live at Morphy’s gallery\, 2000 N. Reading Rd.\, Denver\, PA 17517\, starting each day at 9 a.m. Eastern Time. All forms of bidding will be available\, including absentee\, phone and live via the Internet through Morphy Live. For questions about any item in the auction\, to reserve a phone line or leave an absentee bid\, call 877-968-8880 or email info@morphyauctions.com. Visit Morphy’s online at www.morphyauctions.com.

SUMMARY:Audrain Newport Concours & Motor Week
DESCRIPTION:We are proud to welcome you to the third Annual Audrain Newport Concours & Motor Week presented by the Audrain Automobile Museum. \nThis world class event will bring the best of the motoring world to our renowned East Coast city rich with automotive history dating back to the dawn of the motoring age. \nThe events during this week will be hosted at some of Newport’s most notable locations; the historic mansions of Bellevue Avenue\, the International Tennis Hall of Fame\, the Audrain Automobile Museum\, the Redwood Library and Athenaeum\, the National Museum of American Illustration\, the Newport Pell Bridge\, and local city and state parks. \nThe city of Newport has long celebrated the essence of history\, luxury & sport\, and we are proud to add another chapter to Newport’s book of automotive fascination. The sporting history of Newport dates back to before our country was formally established; the city was a major trading center with other East Coast ports like New York City and Charleston\, South Carolina. Over the years\, Newport turned into an epicenter for American sailing\, with casuals and competitors tuned into major events like the America’s Cup that took place here throughout time. \nTowards the end of the 19th century\, the Vanderbilt family called Newport their home. As an heir to one of the grandest fortunes in our country’s history\, William Kissam Vanderbilt – Willie K for short – had strong interests in yachting and horse racing\, but automobiles gripped his attention when they became accessible at the turn of the century. In what’s considered the first sanctioned oval-track race in our country’s history\, Willie K. raced wealthy friends and fellow pioneering gear-heads at Newport’s Aquidneck Park  horse track\, where the Newport State Airport now resides. \nAward-winning artists will perform throughout the week alongside some of the most beautiful automobiles. Celebrity seminars and book signings will also be held at the Tennis Hall of Fame\, eminent motoring enthusiasts such as Jay Leno and others will be in attendance. \nThe week will bring regional and national car club shows to various locations throughout Newport\, and we are excited to host again\, the 30 Under 30 Concours class; designed for car owners under 30 years old who have built their car with less than $30\,000. \nOur Concours d’Elegance held on Sunday will include some of the finest judges from around the globe\, headed by world renowned concours judge and motoring expert\, Donald Osborne. The week will culminate by awarding the Best in Show trophy. This bespoke trophy pays homage to Willie K. Vanderbilt\, his 1900 Daimler Phoenix\, and the origins of Newport’s profound automotive history. \nWe hope to see you all for another exciting Motor Week in Newport\, September 29 – October 2\, 2022. \nSept. 29 – Oct. 2\, 2022 \nNewport\, Rhode Island \nAudrain Newport Concours and Motor Week
