SUMMARY:Driving School: New Jersey Motorsports Park - Thunderbolt
DESCRIPTION:New Jersey Motorsports Park –  Thunderbolt Driving School\nMon & Tue\, October 2 & 3\, 2023\n\n\nSitting on more than 500 acres in Millville\, N.J.\, New Jersey Motorsports Park is the premier motorsport entertainment complex in the Northeast. NJMP is conveniently located near Philadelphia and New York City\, offering diverse and dynamic attractions both on and off-track. The Park includes two world-class road courses: Thunderbolt and Lightning. For this year’s event\, we will be on Thunderbolt for both days. \nThe southern road circuit at New Jersey Motorsports Park is our signature Thunderbolt Raceway featuring 2.25 miles of asphalt\, 12 challenging turns\, a one half mile straightway and approximately 40 acres of full service paddock space. Amenities on this circuit include concession buildings\, event garages\, twenty (20) VIP Suites\, banquet rooms\, and a three (3) story timing tower with media center. Click here for a detailed Thunderbolt track map. \n\nRegistration Fees\nStudents:  $395 for one day //  $595 for two days.\nInstructors: Event fees are waived in appreciation of your instruction. What is a High Performance Driving School?\nThe purpose of a driving school is quite simple: to improve your driving skills. We conduct the school on a racetrack under the close supervision of experienced and trained instructors. You will learn how to handle and control your vehicle at speeds not normally attained on public roads. This will help to prepare you for emergencies in normal driving. It will also allow you to explore your capabilities as a driver and those of your vehicle in a controlled environment. At no time will you be encouraged to go any faster than is comfortable. All participants will be organized into run groups in accordance with experience\, skill\, and type of vehicle. \nWhat you learn on the track depends on your driving skill. Beginners are taught driving style (smoothness\, consistency\, the ability to read the track)\, more experienced participants continue to work on consistency\, while developing new skills such as trail braking and threshold braking. As a beginner\, every time you are on the track\, you will have an experienced instructor with you in the passenger seat. \nFor experienced drivers\, you can be “signed off” and drive solo when you have proven to your instructor and the Chief Instructor that you understand the basics of high speed driving\, you can consistently drive the correct line\, and you show proper etiquette on track. Maturity\, good judgment\, skill\, and significant experience will lead to being signed off for solo driving. \nThough you are on a racetrack\, other drivers of similar driving skills\, it is not a race. Passing in corners is not allowed\, and you are not expected to shift at redline\, or go screaming through each corner with the tires squealing. Safety of the event is of the utmost importance. Driver conduct will be diligently monitored throughout the day by the staff\, instructors\, and corner workers.\n  \nTrack Time\nYou will have four on-track sessions each day varying from 20-30 minutes each. At the end of the 2-day event you will have had between 3-4 hours on-track over the two days. That’s a lot of driving time and a lot of personalized high-quality instruction.\n  \nClassroom\nYour day is divided between driving on the track\, classroom sessions\, and free time. Yes\, this is a school\, and there is mandatory classroom time. All participants are required to attend classroom sessions throughout the day to learn vehicle dynamics and driving techniques. \nIn the classroom\, you learn a lot of high speed driving theory. Learn about the difference between an early and late apex. You’ll get a better understanding of car dynamics so you understand what is really happening when you brake or why your car understeers or oversteers in certain circumstances. Each classroom will also include an opportunity for Q&A.\n  \nDo I need to own an Audi?\nWe welcome all makes of cars  — you don’t have to drive an Audi to enjoy our events. This school is an excellent way for you to improve your driving skills and have fun too!   \nAll participants must simply be members of the Audi Club of North America (ACNA).  There is a $49 fee for annual membership. To join or update your membership\, please go to the ACNA website (http://www.audiclubna.org/) and click on “Join ACNA” at the top of the page.\n  \nFirst Time Students\nOur club is a friendly community of individuals who share a passion for driving their cars. \nWe know what it’s like to drive on a race-track for the first time and we customize your experience to make it an enjoyable as possible. We love welcoming first-timers to our events and we have a good number of first-timers at each one – you will not be alone.  Your novice classroom teacher and your personal instructor are ready to make you comfortable and give you the tools and confidence to enjoy driving your car on the race-track. Don’t forget – this is not competition driving. There is no overtaking in corners or racing other cars. This is all about having a safe and enjoyable experience. \n\nThis YouTube video shows even more about events with our club.\n \nWe have some restrictions on driving convertibles and you will need a helmet.  We have rental helmets available if you need one. \nInterested in attending or have other registration questions?\nContact Eventmaster Greg Martin at greglmartin2424@gmail.com with any questions.

SUMMARY:HOD at Pitt Race Weekend
DESCRIPTION:Saturday and Sunday October 21st and 22nd 2023 \nJoin us for our 2ns 2023 date at this amazing gem of a facility!!! \nTimeframes for advancement is an observed recommendation. Each driver develops at a different rate. Drivers will be evaluated by a check-ride for promotion to next run group.  Many drivers run in different run groups at different tracks based on their experience at that track\, for example\, you may be a C level driver at WGI but a B level driver at VIR because of experience at that track. \nGroup A Novice (includes 1 on 1 Coach) This group is for novice drivers with little or no experience. It will include a dedicated coach for the entire day\, multiple classroom sessions and about two hours on-track in their car with a coach. Passing in this group is limited to designated passing zones with a mandatory point-by per car. We observe that drivers advance to A-Solo at different rates.  Anyone with minimal or no track experience and has not been signed off to run in a solo run group should register for A Novice.   \nGroup A Solo (includes a Coach for 1 session) If you have either completed the HOD A-Novice program and been approved to run in A-Solo or has been signed off for solo elsewhere (Please Email Ken prior if you are registering based on another groups solo sign off). In this group drivers work with a coach at least one on-track session. Classroom attendance is highly recommended\, but not required. Passing in this group is limited to designated passing zones with a mandatory point-by per car. Check-ride is required to move to Group B.  \nGroup B Intermediate (Solo) Drivers in this group are at the intermediate level. We provide group coaching by our Group Leader. Passing in this group is limited to straights with a mandatory point-by per car. A check-ride is required to move to Group C. \nGroup C Advanced (Solo) This is the advanced group with Point-By Passing. Passing in this group can occur anywhere\, in straights and in corners\, where it can be completed safely. A point-by is required per pass and per car.  \nGroup D- (Unrestricted Passing) This is an invitation only\, open passing group. Passing in this group can occur anywhere it makes sense\, no contesting corners\, and point-bys are not required (although many drivers still use point-bys). Please register for group C and email KenE@hookedondriving.com with your experience and driving resume for approval.  Upon approval you will be moved into Group D. IF there is not enough interest for a full group D run group\, all group D registrations will run in Group C under Group C rules. \nAny questions on what run group to place yourself in please Email KenE@hookedondriving.com \nWe run rain or shine. \nImportant Times \n\n– 7:15am Registration check in starts.\n– 8:15am All hands drivers meeting.\n– 9:00am First car on track!!! SUMMARY:The Mob Museum Celebrates the Return of F1 to Vegas!
DESCRIPTION:Oct. 26 Program Spotlights Auto Racing in the Neon City  –The Mob Museum\, the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement\, is celebrating the return of the Las Vegas Grand Prix with a public program about the history of auto racing and racketeers in Las Vegas. \nThe program\, titled “Racing and Racketeers: Motorsport and Organized Crime in Las Vegas\,” will feature two local experts: racing historian Randy Cannon and retired casino executive Bill Weinberger. It is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday\, Oct. 26. \nFittingly\, as the elite international racing circuit returns to Las Vegas for the first time in 40 years\, this program will explore the history of auto racing in the entertainment capital of the world – and the Mob’s role in making it happen. Cannon and Weinberger will look back at the Stardust International Raceway in the 1960s and the Caesars Palace Grand Prix in the early 1980s. They also will discuss the ties between organized crime and past eras of Las Vegas racing glory.  \nThe hosts certainly are experts in this field. Cannon is author of “Caesars Palace Grand Prix: Las Vegas\, Organized Crime and Pinnacle of Motorsport\,” while Weinberger is former president of Caesars Palace.  \nThe program is free for Museum Members or with Museum admission and can be livestreamed by visiting the webpage here. \nABOUT THE MOB MUSEUM \nThe Mob Museum\, the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement\, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization\, provides a world-class journey through true stories—from the birth of the Mob to today’s headlines.
