Which if you do not already have your tickets\, you’re going to want to get them now\, HERE for a chance to take one home during our 1st Chili Cook-Off & Cruise-In. \nThis isn’t just any old chili cook-off. We’re also going to be collecting new unwrapped toys for Toys For Tots.  You can actually bring toys to the museum anytime up to December 10th. \nWe’re also going to have an emphasis on First Responders. EMS\, Fire\, Police and Dispatch Departments will have their own special category in the Chili Cook-Off to see which department will have a years worth of bragging rights and a nice little bonus to take back to their departments. \nBusinesses and individuals are encouraged to put their chili recipes to the ultimate test.  Sign up to be a competitor HERE. \nThe real winners are the people coming to sample all the different chili’s. Tickets will be available at the MTT tent. Tickets are $15 per person or bring a toy for Toys For Tots and admission will be reduced to $10.  Or bring a friend and\, as a couple\, you can enter for $20.  Children 13 and under are free with adults. \nEntrance will get you a spoon and voting tickets.  You can then sample as much chili as you like.  The gates will be open from 11 am to 2 pm. DESCRIPTION:To thank our Veterans and Active Duty military\, the Washington DC Region SCCA is announcing our annual “Helmets Off To Heroes 2023” free High Performance Driving Event\, November 11th on the Summit Point Shenandoah Circuit\, located at Summit Point WV. \nThis free event is for Veterans and Active Duty military\, to participate as a driver please bring your military ID or other proof of service to the event. \nHelmets Off To Heroes is an all day event to give Veterans and Active Duty military an enjoyable experience at the track and learn basic high performance car skills at a comfortable pace. Non-modified street cars are the perfect car for this event! All experience levels are welcome this year (from those that have never been on track to experienced drivers\, we have a driving group for you). Any driver with no or minimal track experience will have a licensed SCCA performance-driving instructor in-car with them to make the day fun and safe and customized to the driver’s goals. \nOnline registration is required and opens at 5pm\, 25 Sept:  \nhttp://msreg.com/HOTH-2023 \nDetailed event information is provided during registration and the week prior to the event. Please forward this email to anyone you know who is on active duty or a veteran and would like to attend a FREE Track Day (HPDE) as our way of supporting our military and saying “thanks” for serving.\nJoin us for the “Helmets Off To Heroes” HPDE event on Sunday\, November 6th\, on Summit Point’s Shenandoah Circuit.\nThis event is specifically for active duty Vets with NO prior track experience!\n \nThis event is open to active duty military or any veteran for FREE! You do not need prior experience\, and we will provide you with an Instructor in your vehicle. We ask that you come prepared with your military ID or other proof of service to the event. Priority will be given to active duty or Veterans that have never driven on the track.\n \nThis is an all-day event with basic performance driving drills in the morning\, followed by track time and skid pad time for the rest of the day! The new race event marks the return of major desert off-road racing to the well known off-road recreation area after a twenty plus year hiatus. Filbin and his non-profit group Clean Dezert are no strangers to the Barstow area\, having produced multiple cleanups over the past five years. They are responsible for the removal of tons of illegally dumped trash and waste. The partnership will allow both groups to capitalize on their growing base of off-road enthusiasts and ensure the event leaves the surrounding desert in pristine shape when the race week concludes.

Without the restrictions of everyday traffic and standard road obstacles like the police\, Sunday drivers and mini-vans\, you will drive your own car (or a rental track car) on a racetrack for four twenty minute sessions with other drivers of similar experience.
